Posted: November 18, 2002 Job Title: Full-time Peer Advocate (2 positions) 2 FULL TIME PEER ADVOCATE FOR L.I.F.E.'S ENTITLEMENTS ADVOCACY PROGRAM (LEAP) F·E·G·S-L.I.F.E. Program is accepting applications for 2 Full Time Peer Advocates. The Advocate's focus is to work with people in crisis, newly entering or re-entering the Suffolk County Mental Health service system. Advocates provide comprehensive and concrete delivery of case management services to participants; provide case specific linkage, monitor and client advocacy; as appropriate to consumer needs. The job duties must be performed in a manner in keeping with the Mission Statement of F·E·G·S-L.I.F.E. Program. The L.E.A.P. Peer Advocate must also project a positive image of the employees, participants and agency of F·E·G·S - L.I.F.E. Program to the public, participants, other agencies and families. The L.E.A.P. Peer Advocates report the Asst. Supervisor and Coordinator/Supervisor.
Qualifications: The qualifications for this job are the ability to perform all functions with or without reasonable accommodations, experience in advocacy and working with persons with psychiatric disabilities preferred. Driver's license required. Possess good writing, reading and verbal communication skills. Training: Staff development supervision and training opportunities are provided regularly through in-service training and utilization or our IPRT program.
