POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Employment Coordinator - New York WORKS

Grade 14

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. has a full-time opening in the New York WORKS project. The position is funded by a grant from the Social Security Administration and is expected to be funded through September 30, 2003, and possibly extended.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants should have 2 - 4 years’ experience in providing employment-related services to individuals with mental illness, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS or other disabilities. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Education, Psychology, Public Health, Business or other discipline related to the provision of employment services to individuals with disabilities preferred. Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and a demonstrated commitment to promoting employment for individuals with disabilities. Experience in psychiatric vocational rehabilitation and knowledge of employment and training is essential; Bilingual/bicultural helpful. Individuals who have experience both as a consumer of mental health services and in providing employment services are encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Employment Coordinator facilitates and advocates on behalf of the client. He/she coordinates the activities of an Employment Coordination Team to provide the consumer with career planning, employment goal-setting and short-term action plans focused on achieving competitive employment.
