The Peer Specialist Training Program is a comprehensive training program that prepares mental health consumers for entry-level positions as direct care workers in mental health agencies and in other human service fields.

Who is eligible?

People 18 or older with AXIS I Psychiatric Diagnosis including people with dual diagnosis.

Training includes:

• Six-month classroom training
• Three-month supervised internship
• Placement Assistance
• Ongoing Support

What are the requirements?

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum one-year clean and sober
• Actively engaged in treatment
• Willing to give up benefits for work
• Recent Volunteer Experience Preferable
• Committed to taking part in a year long program

What is the Cost?

• There is no cost to program participant.
• The Peer Specialist Training Program is funded by VESID.
• Individuals who are applying to our program must apply to VESID
